The London Quarterly Review began in 1853. It was renamed The London Review in 1858 but reverted to The London Quarterly Review in 1862. A second series began in 1883, with overall volume numbering also continuing, and a third series began likewise in 1899, as did a fourth series in 1905 and a fifth series in 1911. In 1932 The London Quarterly Review merged with the Holborn Review to form the London Quarterly and Holborn Review, which is also referred to as series 6.
